Becket
“An age of rampant lusts, abandon, runaway passions. An age brought bristling to life by two of the most exciting stars of our time!”
King Henry II (Peter O'Toole) names his closest friend and longtime advisor, Thomas Becket (Richard Burton), Archbishop of Canterbury, expecting the Church to fall in line behind him. Peter Glenville adapts Jean Anouilh's play, with the king's drinking and carousing set against Becket's cool, careful mind. Becket never wanted the office, and now he has to decide what he owes the king and what he owes his new post.
