Becoming Astrid

“Be the author of your own story.”

In rural Sweden, Astrid Lindgren (Alba August) grows up in a strict religious household where a young woman is expected to stay in line. Pernille Fischer Christensen follows her as she leaves the farm for a newspaper job and starts a relationship with Blomberg (Henrik Rafaelsen), the married editor. Astrid keeps choosing what she wants over what she has been told to be, and the film tracks what that costs her.
