Beethoven

“The head of the family is the one with the tail.”

A hole sits in the middle of the Newton household, and nobody in it can name what belongs there, until a small puppy wanders in and settles the matter. They call him Beethoven, and he grows into a St. Bernard the size of the furniture, with George Newton (Charles Grodin) the one person who wants him gone. Brian Levant lets the dog take over the family's days, while the local vet, Dr. Varnick (Dean Jones), keeps a quiet interest in dogs that size.
