Before the Revolution
“Italy is the place where they've made an art of everything - especially love!”
Fabrizio (Francesco Barilli) is a young man in Parma who wants to join the Communist Party and give his comfortable life a purpose. He breaks off his engagement to a bourgeois woman, and his aunt Gina (Adriana Asti) draws him into a love he cannot name aloud. Bernardo Bertolucci, still in his early twenties, lets the camera drift through Parma as the film follows Fabrizio's uncertainty.
