Before What Comes After

Fabrice Toussaint (Denis Podalydès) wakes in a hospital with no memory of how he arrived there. Around him gather the people bound to him: Augustin (Kad Merad), Florence (Marilyne Canto), Estrelia (Ángela Molina), and Sidonie (Charlotte Rampling), each carrying their own silence. Costa-Gavras holds the frame still and lets the weight accumulate in the spaces between them, in the half-light of a room where time has stopped moving forward.
