Judge Drake, a crooked politician, has found the one place the law can't reach him: a mental institution, where he stays safe from prosecution as long as he acts crazy. Private detective Ross Stewart (Richard Carlson) has himself committed to get close to him, and Budd Boetticher keeps the story inside those walls. On the outside, reporter Kathy Lawrence (Lucille Bremer) poses as Ross's wife, and that false marriage is the only link he has to anyone.
