Behind the Sun

Tonho (Rodrigo Santoro) is twenty years old in the Brazilian badlands of 1910, and his father (José Dumont) orders him to avenge his older brother's death. Doing it would split his life in two: the years he has already lived and the few days before the other family comes for him. Walter Salles films the dry, wide country with long patience and lets the silence between the family members carry the weight.
