(2021)Directed by Mamoru Hosoda121 min · PGAnimation, Science Fiction, Drama, Music
“You are no longer alone.”

Suzu (Kaho Nakamura) is a 17-year-old living with her father in a rural Japanese town, still carrying the loss of her mother from when she was young. Online, she becomes Belle, the avatar at the center of the vast virtual world called U, until Mamoru Hosoda introduces a dragon-like figure who interrupts her first night in the spotlight. The film borrows from Beauty and the Beast, and the pull between Belle and the creature becomes the thing that drives her.
