Belle Époque
Fernando (Jorge Sanz) is a young soldier who deserts in 1931 and wanders onto a country farm, where the owner, Manolo, takes him in because he likes the boy's politics. Manolo has four daughters, and Fernando likes every one of them, Luz (Penélope Cruz) and Rocío (Maribel Verdú) included. Trueba keeps the house warm and the days unhurried, and the deserter, who came in running, finds he can't choose among them.
