“The bitter-sweet love affair of the East End orphan girl who became the friend of the famous.”

In Hollywood in the late 1930s, the gossip columnist Sheilah Graham (Deborah Kerr) has built a following with a column that bites. At a party she meets F. Scott Fitzgerald (Gregory Peck), an author whose books have gone out of fashion, and the two begin an affair. Henry King shoots it in CinemaScope and color, and when the studio lets Scott go, the drinking starts.
