Bend It Like Beckham

“Who wants to cook Aloo Gobi when you can bend a ball like Beckham?”

Jess Bhamra (Parminder Nagra) is eighteen, lives with her strict Indian parents in London, and can bend a ball better than almost anyone in the park. Then Jules Paxton (Keira Knightley) sees her play and signs her to a semi-pro team, which means a stack of excuses at home and a coach, Joe (Jonathan Rhys Meyers), she can't stop noticing. Gurinder Chadha films the family kitchens and the muddy pitches with the same warm, close attention.
