Bernie
“A story so unbelievable it must be true.”
Bernie Tiede (Jack Black) wants nothing more than to be liked, and in the small East Texas town of Carthage, as the town's mortician, he is. His friendship with Marjorie Nugent (Shirley MacLaine), a wealthy widow with a sour reputation, turns controlling and abusive, and Bernie starts looking for a way out of her grip. Richard Linklater built it on a real 1996 case, and Bernie's standing with the whole town is what's at risk.
