Betrayal

“In every life...for every love...with every trust...there is a risk of Betrayal.”

The film opens in a London pub in 1977, two years after the affair between Emma (Patricia Hodge) and Jerry (Jeremy Irons) ended, and the two of them sit down across from each other. David Hugh Jones then runs Harold Pinter's story backward, year by year, toward the beginning. Jerry is a literary agent and Emma's husband, Robert (Ben Kingsley), is his oldest friend, and that closeness is what holds all three of them.
