In a city where District Attorney Mark Hunter (Michael Douglas) wins nearly every case he takes to trial, young reporter C.J. Nicholas (Jesse Metcalfe) suspects the convictions are built on planted evidence. Peter Hyams, remaking Fritz Lang's 1956 film, follows C.J. as he makes himself a suspect in a murder to prove it. If the proof he has gathered cannot clear him, he stands to lose everything he has.
