Beyond Rangoon

“Truth has a witness”

Laura Bowman (Patricia Arquette), a young American doctor, takes a trip to Burma in 1988 with her sister Andy (Frances McDormand), hoping to get away from the memory of her husband and son's violent deaths. Instead she is pulled into the 8888 Uprising, and the route out toward Thailand turns out to be harder than the journey in. John Boorman keeps Laura at the center, a woman who came to Burma to stop feeling and now cannot look away.
