In the near future, Richard Martin (Sam Neill) brings home a household robot, an NDR-114 meant for chores, and his youngest daughter names it Andrew. Andrew (Robin Williams) starts to show feelings and ideas nobody programmed, and the Martins realize this is no ordinary machine. Chris Columbus follows him across two hundred years, and what he wants is to be counted as one of the family.
