“She created it. He sold it. And everyone bought it.”

In the late 1950s, Walter Keane (Christoph Waltz) becomes famous for portraits of saucer-eyed waifs, and no one knows his wife, Margaret (Amy Adams), is the one painting them. Tim Burton follows the Keanes as the paintings sell and Walter takes the credit while she keeps quiet. Margaret works at her easel, and the children on the canvas stare out with enormous eyes.
