Joe Weider (Tyler Hoechlin) grows up poor and Jewish in Montreal, convinced that lifting weights can change a body and a life. His younger brother Ben (Aneurin Barnard) believes in him, and George Gallo follows the two of them as they push against the poverty and prejudice that surround them. Joe keeps training and chasing the idea, and he does not let up for anything.
