Billy Budd

“The men! The mutiny! The might of the greatest adventure classic of the high seas!”

Billy Budd (Terence Stamp), a young seaman in the British Navy in 1797, wants only to do his work well and be liked by the men around him. Peter Ustinov, who also plays Captain Vere, puts him aboard a ship under the master-at-arms John Claggart (Robert Ryan), a sadistic officer who runs the decks by fear. Claggart can't stand the open goodness of the new man, and the two circle each other until one of them is dead.
