“The Army made Eugene a man. But Daisy gave him basic training!”

Eugene Morris Jerome (Matthew Broderick) is a Jewish kid from Brooklyn who ships out to basic training with three goals: lose his virginity, become a writer, and live through World War II. He fills a notebook with his bunkmates, including Joseph Wykowski (Matt Mulhern) and Arnold Epstein (Corey Parker). Mike Nichols directs Neil Simon's script, and the drill sergeant, Toomey (Christopher Walken), is the man all of them have to get through.
