Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance)

“How did we end up here?”

Riggan (Michael Keaton) was once Birdman, the superhero whose face still follows him around, and a voice in his head keeps insisting he go back to the cape. He has staked everything on a Broadway adaptation of a Raymond Carver story, which he is writing, directing and starring in. Iñárritu stages the weeks before opening night as a nearly unbroken take, the camera trailing the actors through the cramped backstage corridors.
