“THE DESERT COMMANDO RAID THEY WIPED OFF THE RECORD BOOKS!”

Capt. Leith (Richard Burton) wants a chance to prove himself in the war, though he has yet to see any real fighting. He and his commanding officer, Major David Brand (Curd Jürgens), are given a vital commando mission in North Africa, and the arrival of Brand's wife, Jane (Ruth Roman), complicates it, since she and Leith were once lovers. Nicholas Ray shoots the two men in CinemaScope, small figures set against the open North African ground.
