“Hail Caesar Godfather of Harlem!”

Tommy Gibbs (Fred Williamson) grew up shining shoes in Harlem and made himself a mob boss, answering to nobody in the neighborhood. His rise puts him in the way of the Mafia and of McKinney (Art Lund), the dirty cop who has hated him since he was a kid. Larry Cohen shot it on the real streets, and a James Brown score runs under the grain of the film.
