“There's more to family than what you see.”

Elliot Anderson (Kevin Costner) is a grieving widower who wants one thing, to keep raising his granddaughter Eloise (Jillian Estell), the girl he has helped bring up her whole life. Her paternal grandmother Rowena Jeffers (Octavia Spencer) wants her too, and Mike Binder sets the two of them against each other in a custody fight. Elliot and Rowena both love the same child, and neither of them can step back.
