Deep inside a top-secret prison, a labyrinth of corridors holds its most dangerous detainee, a brilliant and infamous man known as Hatchet (Jason Clarke). Abby Trent (Michelle Monaghan) and her fellow officers guard him, and then he escapes. Sophia Banks keeps the camera tight on the hallways and the people moving through them, so the building feels like it is closing in.
