Blackboard Jungle

“They turned a school into a jungle!”

North Manual High School is an inner-city school in 1955 where the students have long since stopped pretending to listen. Richard Dadier (Glenn Ford) arrives to teach English and tries to reach them, while the staff and the pupils both push back. Richard Brooks puts rock and roll on the soundtrack and Dadier at the front of a room where the desks sit in rows and the faces turn away.
