“Infiltrate hate.”

A Black detective in 1970s Colorado Springs calls the local Ku Klux Klan chapter, and they invite him to join. Ron Stallworth (John David Washington) can't walk into a meeting himself, so Flip Zimmerman (Adam Driver), a Jewish colleague, goes in wearing his name and his voice. Spike Lee follows the two of them as the lie gets harder to keep up, with Ron's relationship with Patrice Dumas (Laura Harrier) and both men's safety riding on it.
