“It's in the blood”

John Strauss (Roy Dupuis) is sick with a disease no one can name, and he takes his girlfriend Kathleen (Kristin Lehman) to an island where his family once lived, hoping to find a cure. The relatives were all thought to be dead, but he finds them living underground. Peter Svatek adapts H. P. Lovecraft's "The Lurking Fear" from a Dan O'Bannon script, and Rutger Hauer turns up as Dr. Marlowe, below the island.
