Blue Collar

(1978)Directed by Paul Schrader114 min · RDrama, Crime
“"Blue Collar" is the American Dream. If you're rich, you can buy it. If you're anything else, you gotta fight for it.”

Zeke Brown (Richard Pryor) and Jerry Bartowski (Harvey Keitel) are behind on bills, and the paychecks from the auto assembly line never cover them. Paul Schrader makes his directorial debut in a Rust Belt enclave where management and the union both lean on the men who work the line. Zeke, Jerry and Smokey (Yaphet Kotto) stand in the plant, the line moving past them, and one of them says there might be a safe at union headquarters.
