Blue in the Face

(1995)Directed by Paul Auster, Wayne Wang83 min · RComedy
“Welcome to the planet Brooklyn.”

Auggie Wren (Harvey Keitel) runs a Brooklyn cigar shop where the neighbors come to talk, smoke and settle into their usual spots. When the owner threatens to close it and put a vegetarian restaurant in its place, regulars like Vinnie (Victor Argo) and Dot (Roseanne Barr) start looking for ways to keep it open. Wayne Wang and Paul Auster let the talk run loose, and the film is about what a corner gives the people who gather on it.
