Blue Steel

(1990)Directed by Kathryn Bigelow102 min · RThriller
“For a rookie cop, there's one thing more dangerous than uncovering a killer's fantasy...becoming it.”

On her first day as a uniformed officer, Megan Turner (Jamie Lee Curtis) shoots a man who is holding up a supermarket, and the gun he was carrying vanishes from the scene. Someone starts using bullets with her name carved into them, and Detective Nick Mann (Clancy Brown) is assigned to work the case beside her. Kathryn Bigelow sets this in a city where wearing the badge makes you a target as much as a protector, and the film treats that as plain fact.
