Bluebeard

(1963)Directed by Claude Chabrol112 minDrama, Crime, History
“The most shocking scandal Paris ever saw!”

Henri Landru (Charles Denner) is a furniture dealer in wartime Paris, married, a father of four, a man the neighbors would call respectable. While soldiers die by the thousand at the front, he courts one lonely woman after another, among them Mme Buisson (Michèle Morgan) and Mme Héon (Danielle Darrieux). Chabrol, working from a Françoise Sagan screenplay, keeps his eye on a polite, orderly husband whose household accounts matter to him more than anything else.
