Bob Roberts

“Vote first. Ask questions later.”

Bob Roberts (Tim Robbins), a millionaire with a guitar, is running for a Pennsylvania Senate seat against incumbent Brickley Paiste. He fires up his rallies with acoustic folk songs in the style of the sixties, only the lyrics argue for far-right social and economic views. Robbins, who also wrote the film, shoots the campaign as a documentary, and its sincerity is the joke: a candidate's appeal, here, is a good melody and a crowd that already agrees.
