Luciana (Marisa Solinas) wants to keep her job and her young husband Renzo (Germano Gilioli), and in 1960s Italy the office will not let her have both. That is one of four stories here, from De Sica, Fellini, Monicelli and Visconti, with Sophia Loren as a fair's prize and Anita Ekberg looming over a prude's conscience. Each tale circles the same question of who gets to want whom, and what the marriage looks like afterward.
