“Meet Oakland's Newest Battle Rapper.”

Adam (Calum Worthy) is a progressive graduate student who picks battle rap as the subject of his thesis, and the research drags him into the scene itself. Joseph Kahn follows him through the rooms where rappers like Behn Grymm (Jackie Long) trade bars in front of a crowd that wants blood. Adam gets good fast, but a thesis can be graded, and what he says on stage can cost him his standing, his friends, and Maya (Rory Uphold).
