“A comedy about losing your heart, finding your inner child and meeting the one friend you've always tried to avoid.”

After his mother dies, young Albert (Haley Joel Osment) is sent from Florida to Newark to live with Harriet Franklin (Whoopi Goldberg), her childhood friend and now his godmother. Harriet manages a restaurant supply company and has no idea what to do with a grieving boy, or with the flamboyant French magician (Gérard Depardieu) who follows him in. Norman Jewison lets Harriet see what she was never meant to see, and she has to decide whether to trust it.
