A secret is kept inside a religious Muslim household in Pakistan, and the father cannot say it aloud. Hakeem Sahib has a houseful of daughters, money that keeps running short, and a child he refuses to acknowledge, an intersex child he wanted to be a son. Shoaib Mansoor builds the film around Zainub (Humaima Malick), her sisters, and the locked rooms and narrow courtyard where the family keeps its silence.
