Bonnard, Pierre and Marthe
Pierre Bonnard (Vincent Macaigne) is a French painter who meets Marthe de Méligny (Cécile de France), a woman who calls herself an aristocrat, and she soon becomes the center of his life. She appears in more than a third of his paintings, and the two build a relationship that sits outside the standards of their time. Martin Provost films their love story through the colors of the work it produced.
