“Adventure called her name... Unfortunately dad answered.”

In the rugged New Zealand wilderness, eleven-year-old Mildred (Nell Fisher) is handed over to the father she barely knows, Strawn Wise (Elijah Wood), an American magician, while her mother lies in a hospital bed. Ant Timpson sends the two camping in search of the Canterbury Panther, a beast most people treat as a story. Mildred keeps her nose in a book, and Strawn keeps his tricks ready.
