Born to Be Blue

“Love is instrumental”

Chet Baker (Ethan Hawke), once the cool young trumpeter of West Coast jazz, is cast to play himself in a film about his own troubled life. The part is his way back, and Robert Budreau puts him next to Jane (Carmen Ejogo), the actress who plays opposite him on set. He is trying to earn a second chance in front of the people who have watched him fall, and he cannot stop reaching for the thing that undid him.
