(1970)Directed by Jacques Deray125 min · PGCrime, Comedy, Drama
“They're going after what they want. And what they want is everything.”

François Capella (Jean-Paul Belmondo) is a small-time crook in 1930s Marseilles who meets Roch Siffredi (Alain Delon) over a fistfight about a woman, and the two end up partners. They start with fixed horse races and boxing matches, then take jobs for the local gangster bosses before deciding to run things themselves. Jacques Deray follows the pair into the nightlife of Marseilles, where the easy-going approach to crime begins to change.
