“With every road trip comes baggage”

Why would a nursing home throw out Jack (Christopher Plummer), and why does his daughter Laura (Vera Farmiga) end up the one who has to drive him cross-country? He deals pot, he has always been careless with the people around him, and she has spent years keeping him at a distance. Shana Feste puts Laura, her awkward fourteen-year-old son Henry (Lewis MacDougall) and Jack in one car, where Laura has to decide how much of her father she can let back in.
