Bowery at Midnight

(1942)Directed by Wallace Fox62 minCrime, Horror, Action
“The monster and the ghoul! One deals in wholesale murder...the other serves as a torture-master of the living dead! See it and shudder!”

A string of robberies and murders is working its way through the Bowery, and the police cannot find where it starts. Prof. Frederick Brenner (Bela Lugosi) teaches criminology by day and runs a soup kitchen mission at night, living as Karl Wagner while the gang he leads works the streets around him. Wallace Fox shoots it as a quick, low-budget Monogram picture, with Lugosi's Wagner at the center.
