Boy

“Welcome to my interesting world.”

On the east coast of New Zealand in 1984, Boy (James Rolleston) is eleven and devoted to Michael Jackson, and he has told his classmates his absent father is a war hero. Then Alamein (Taika Waititi) turns up, a petty criminal back in town to dig up a bag of money he buried years ago. Waititi, who also wrote the film, plays the father himself and keeps the story close to a child's view of the grown-ups around him.
