Boys on the Side

“A motion picture that celebrates the art of survival, the gift of laughter and the miracle of friendship.”

A personal ad seeking a cross-country driver gets one answer, from Jane Deluca (Whoopi Goldberg), a nightclub singer fresh off a breakup. The woman who placed it is Robin (Mary-Louise Parker), a real estate agent with AIDS, and their road from New York toward Los Angeles stops in Pittsburgh for Holly (Drew Barrymore), who needs to get out. Herbert Ross, working from Don Roos's script, keeps the three women in one car and lets their differences play out mile by mile.
