“You lost your life”

Nobody explains why João de Santo Cristo (Fabrício Boliveira) leaves home for Brasília, only that he is looking for a better life and finds the local drug trade first. René Sampaio puts him in the sun-bleached edge of the city, where a drug lord has already marked him as a target. Then he meets Maria Lúcia (Isis Valverde), a girl who loves punk music, and falls hard for her.
