“It could happen to you.”

Amy Taylor (Kathleen Quinlan) climbs into a passing truck in the New Mexico desert, bound for a café and a phone, and when her husband Jeff (Kurt Russell) gets the SUV running and reaches the café, she is not there. The trucker tells the police he has never laid eyes on either of them. Jonathan Mostow leaves Jeff alone on the road with a missing wife and a stranger's word against his.
