In a New York apartment building, a struggling young writer moves in upstairs from Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn), a playgirl who has set her sights on marrying a Brazilian millionaire. Paul Varjak (George Peppard) is drawn into her orbit, and her past starts to crowd the rooms they share. Blake Edwards leaves Holly in the doorway of her building, Hepburn dressed up, looking for a husband with money.
