Robin Cavendish (Andrew Garfield) is 28, newly married to Diana (Claire Foy), and expecting their first child when polio leaves him paralysed from the neck down. Andy Serkis, directing for the first time, follows the couple as they refuse the hospital ward where doctors expect him to stay.
