Breathless

“He's the last man on earth any woman needs...and every woman wants.”

Jesse (Richard Gere) is a small-time criminal who steals a car and drives to Los Angeles, because that is where Monica (Valérie Kaprisky), a French exchange student, is waiting. On the road he kills a highway patrolman, and in Jim McBride's remake of the Godard film, he arrives in the city as its most wanted fugitive. He wants her to run with him, and he keeps asking, even with a police lieutenant (John P. Ryan) closing in.
